Exclamation how to recover data in ubuntu , from a software which hanged?

We were recording an important audio, in a file, in audacity...
Suddenly the software hanged before we were able to save it.. All the recorded data must have been stored somewhere right? Is there any way to recover it?

I don't have audacity on this machine, but it may have a temp file somewhere, either /tmp or .audacity? I think you can set were the temp file is the Audacity settings.
Look in there for some files with a timestamp from when things crashed.
