how to permanently remove the internet submenu in redhat9/gnome
i want to remove the mozilla shortcut in the internet submenu in my pc. i tried RIGHT-CLICK, REMOVE ITEM, but the error message was "Could not remove item, unsupported operation".
but then the item was still removed.
but the probem is that when i reboot the system, the item reappears.
how do i remove this item permanently? using gui, that is.
well, in gnome click on the desktop icon 'start here' and then 'applications'. this is the directory where all those launchers are stored, so delete away!
i was quite excited with your suggestions. i really thought it would work. but it kept on saying "ERROR: UNSUPPORTED OPERATION". i cant determine where the problem may come from. but i really appreciate you guys. anyway, thanx a lot.
hope to see more responses and suggestions. maybe one or more of them will work.
Edit your /etc/X11/desktop-menus/applications.menu file, remove the section <!-- Internet --> section down to the </Folder> above <!-- Multimedia -->
when you finished doing this and click on the main menu button it'll appear to have lost everything, but don't panic, it takes few seconds to update.
