how to install printer on debian

dear all!

hi!!^^ i can't install my HP printer on debian etch..
how can i install it? (i plan to make my debian a print server.)

anyone who can show me, i will be very greatful]

Have you got cups installed? If not, install it.

Then go to here --> http://www.linux-foundation.org/en/OpenPrinting

and see if your printer is supported. If it is, then the driver you need will be listed.

Install the driver. Open a web browser, in the URL bar type http://localhost:631 ( this logs you into cups ) and log in as root to add the printer. Once added you can try test page to see if you are successful.

You may also need Samba if you need to share your printer with Windows pcs.
