How to install Flash

It feels like there's some big secret everyone's hiding... how do you install Flash in Linux?

The instructions on the Flash site are a bust. On Fedora, I've downloaded the YUM rpm, added it, and even successfully installed the flash package. But unlike what they claim should happen, Firefox does not use the plugun nor is it even listed in the plugins in the "aboutlugins" page.

Next I try the tar.gz download and unpack to find libflashplayer.so - sounds familiar, oh yeah, I remember trying that method years ago, also a giant bust.

So what is the secret sauce to getting flash working in a mozilla browser on Linux and how can such a de facto standard be kept so obscure?

Success, thank you! I installed the prerelease 64-bit plugin and it works - no more "you are missing plugins"!
