Question How to get these themes to work?

Hi everyone, I have been trying to get these two items (theme+panel menu) working on my Ubuntu 9.04 Netbook Remix:
http://gnome-look.org/content/show.p...?content=72917
And I wanted to incorporate this start menu into one of these:
http://gnome-look.org/content/show.p...?content=83676
Or,
http://gnome-look.org/content/show.p...content=101019

After some research I found that I had to drag-and-drop them into the Appearance window, in their tar form. And then I felt like a complete retard. But when I tried to do this with either package it tells me that its not valid/needed 'ubuntulooks' theme engine.

I did some more looking and figured I needed to get GTK2 installed, but then found a website saying I already have one.
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=570736

Anyways, I'm at a loss now on what to do...any and all help is GREATLY appreciated, as I have been struggling with this seemingly easy task.

Download the .bz2 tar file into a directory, after downloading cd into that directory and untar the file.

tar xvjf file.name.bz2

After it's done, cd into the directory that is created there will be another directory within that dir. called Beta release 1.0.6 cd into that directory and there is a README file with some instructions and and a list of dependencies you need to make sure are installed first. The author gives the command to install deps. just copy and paste in a terminal.
