how to get info about my version of gcc?

I just installed Fedora Core 1 x86_64 bit version on a dual Opteron machine. I'm still learning Linux, but my first project is to attempt to compile a program coming from a 32 bit machine using a 64 bit compiler on this new machine to look for increased performance. We use gcc and gcc-f77 to compile on the other machines, but I'm unsure if the version of gcc that came with 64 bit Fedora Core 1 is a 64 bit compiler or just at 32 bit. How can I get this info? Is there a place to examine the installed packages and look for version number, etc? Thanks!

rpm (RPM Package Manager) has a query option , -q

for my system it get

>rpm -q gcc-g77
gcc-g77-3.3.1-29

this gives the version name, whether or not you can tell if its 64 bit from that i don't know.
