how to find the newly created volume in linux


Hi,



1) I am not sure how to find the newly created SAN volume by SAN Admin. I have to mount the new volume created by SAN Admin. But i did not find it. I tried by these commands. but no success...Please suggest...


2) I am not sure why we have so many disks. please see the output of fdisk -l below.

Newly Created Volume name he said is /orafleet.

Please bare with me. i know i am asking very stupid questions but i need to start from somewhere..

What distribution are you running?

Is this a workstation on a server in the enterprise/workplace?

You could try opening a konsole and run:

The newly created SAN volume by SAN Admin should show in the /etc/fstab file.
To find the UUID of each device you can run blkid as root.

As to the number... Some of those may be multi-pathing, and actually are the same device.

It depends on you interfaces. I've seen similar when connecting to a fibrechannel network. Each device represents a different path through the network - even though the source and destination are the same location.

That is one of the things the blkid report will identify. The duplicate filesystems should have the same UUID.

Useful for failover use.
