How to create hotspot on Ubuntu for Android device if AP is not listed in Supported Interface Modes

I have Ubuntu 14.04 and Ubuntu 16.04. I am trying to create hotspot on both systems for Android devices but hotspot is not visible on Android. Same hotspot is visible on Mac devices, Windows and other Ubuntu devices but not visible on any of android devices (tried with different versions of Android too).

When I run iw list command on both Ubuntu systems, it does not give AP supported interface mode in the list. Here is the list for both systems (it is same)
Code:
Supported interface modes:
IBSS
managed
monitor

software interface modes (can always be added):
monitor
I am not able to change hardware but I can install as many software.
Please help.

Thank You

From what I read Google has disabled Android devices from connecting to ad-hoc (IBSS) networks. Without knowing anything about your hardware it could be either the adapter or the driver that does not support AP mode. I would say at the moment it isn't possible.

Good 'catch' on the ad-hoc not supported by Android! [nasty infamous bug#82 imho]
**What version of Windo$e? <8? (M$ 'killed' adhoc in 8 grrr but there's netsh workaround)
How exactly did you set it up on Ubuntu? Here's something that claims to work.
(there's a ton more [with the 'right' search keywords] but I don't have Linux wifi to play)
Best wishes! Let us know (others will be searching LQ for this in the future)!

I have tried a lot on laptop where no AP mode is listed but no luck to make connection with Android.
Another laptop which has AP mode listed can easily be connected to Android device.
