How to configure a SFTP connection using Filezilla from my Cent OS server

currently I’m able to ssh and ftp into my box without any problems. I use the default port for ftp and use a custom port for ssh. My version of Cent OS is 2.6.32-358.11.1.el6.x86_64.

What I Need: one “super” SFTP user who can go in and edit, move, copy and delete files anywhere on the server as though I’m logged in as root via ssh.

My problem: I can’t connect via SFTP using Filezilla to my server. I added the following lines to my /etc/sysconfig/iptables file:

-A INPUT -m state --state NEW -m tcp -p tcp --dport 22 -j ACCEPT
-A INPUT -m state --state NEW -m tcp -p tcp --dport 1122 -j ACCEPT
-A INPUT -m state --state NEW -m tcp -p tcp --dport sftp -j ACCEPT
-A INPUT -p tcp -m tcp --dport 1122 -j ACCEPT

I then save this file, restart iptables then try and connect with filezilla to no avail. Do I need to add these line into the ip6tables instead?? Obviously i’m not doing something correctly and I don’t have a clue as what to do next. Any help and direct is greatly appreciated!

Okay, so before going for Filezilla, try to troubleshoot using the std terminal, ex., using a terminal in your client client, sftp to your server, and then investigate from there.
