How to clean some space in Xubuntu?

I need to clean some space, but i can't seem to be able to format the fat32 only drive with 1gb?( pc has 40) with gparted. How do I delete stuff to have enough space without screwing up even more?

i need to take a flight tomorrow but im willing to spend all night rebooting this properly

Thank you for reading.

The most common problem new users have trying to format any type of partition in Linux/GParted, is failing to unmount the partition before trying to format. You haven't given any details on what you are trying to accomplish. Are you trying to delete some folders/files from a partition to create space. Formatting a partition will basically delete everythng, at least in the eyes of an ordinary user.
