first Fedora 8 is no longer supported , and has had NO security updates since Jan 7 2009

fedora 10 is current and fedora 11 will be released in a few weeks .

my normal shpeel is ...
For the first 12 to 24 installs of the Apache stack BUILD and install it BY HAND .Do not use a precompiled binary ( like the fedora rpm's ) for apache ,Mysql,php,phpmyadmin,awstates,perl,...

LEARN how to install and configure every config file first ( httpd.conf, my.ini, php.conf,...)

then use the prebuilt as a time saver ( save about 30 min. )

It is VERY easy to missconfigure the apache stack and have some hacker turn it into a ZOMBIE

see the docs:
http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/
http://us3.php.net/docs.php
http://www.phpmyadmin.net/home_page/docs.php
