Unhappy How do I safely Uninstall then re-install Ubuntu 13.04.from my Winxp laptop.

Hi to everyone. I allways wondered what my first post would behere goes.
I finally decided install linux secure 13.04 along side WinXp on a PB EasyNote Laptop, and found Ubuntu excellent ,easy to set up,easy to use.
I logged out and shut down, and found I had left an 80Gb Usb drive plugged in.I unplugged the drive and rebooted the laptop but no joy.Plugged the drive in again and all was well.
I think it has loaded onto the usb drive but I really would prefer Ubuntu on the main drive Can anyone help.

First, 13.04 is an old version and it is not an LTS version either. I'd use either 12.04 or 14.04. Next, you go through the same steps you did before without the USB drive connected. You'll need available space on your WinXP drive so you'll likely have to shrink the XP partition but the installer will do that for you. Have it install GRUB on the MBR of the XP drive - and you're all set...

Better to find out what the current situation really is first.
From Ubuntu, go here, do as it says and post the RESULTS.txt so we can see what the boot environment is. You can extract the tar by double-clicking it in the GUI disk manager.
