how do i get permission to edit my filestab file


i cannot save due to me not having permission

You can open your editor as root from command line in many ways.
If using the kde desktop run command: kdesu kate if using kate editor.
Or "su" to root and type the word: kate as root if using kate.
If using something in the "Buntu" family, use command: sudo gedit or whatever.
After editing the file you should be able to save it.
