Question How do I find out what package a given command comes from?


Using Redhat's rpm...

rpm -qf /what/ever/that/file/is

i'd suggest reading the manpage from rpm next time.

thanks... I did... I was forgetting the q

not EVERYONE forgoes the man pages....

edit: now after a second look I can safely assume that the curly braces mean this switch must be given in order to use the following options found within the square brackets.
