How can I get 3 buttons to work on my Evoluent mouse?

Hi,
I just got my new Evoluent Vertical optical mouse. It has 3 buttons, a scroll wheel, and another thumb button.
I want to be able to use the three buttons as left, middle and right.
Now it's working as:
left is left
scroll wheel is middle and also scrolls
middle is right
right doesn't do anything

clicking left and middle buttons together also works like middle button.

I don't need the thumb button, I'd just like to be able to use the middle and right buttons without having to press the scroll wheel for middle.

The company's web site says "No driver supplied, but 5 buttons work with default system support in XFree."
I have xorg and this is from my config file (after some fiddling to get the scroll wheel to work):

Section "InputDevice"
Driver "mouse"
Identifier "Mouse[1]"
Option "ButtonNumber" "5"
Option "Buttons" "5"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
Option "InputFashion" "Mouse"
Option "Name" "PS/2 Generic Mouse"
Option "Protocol" "explorerps/2"
Option "Vendor" "Sysp"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
EndSection

The mouse is connected by PS2 with a USB-PS2 adapter. (Would it be any better to connect it directly to the USB port?)

I have a P4 x86-64 with SuSE 9.3.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Cheers

I would try that and see if that works.

Try bumping the 5's in:

Option "ButtonNumber" "5"
Option "Buttons" "5"

to 6 or 7, one at time, & both together.

Remember the wheel counts as 3 buttons & you have 2 extras.

Also try a Linux Google on
"7 button mouse"
