how 2 reinstall linuxmint

Linuxmint 18.3/Cinnamon

Hi guys, I think I need to reinstall my system. There`re no backups on it. Is there any terminal commands to reset it to the starting point? If not, do I have to change the bios in order to boot from a new dvd/usb drive? If so, with which commands? Thank you!

No, there are no such terminal commands. You will have to reinstall.

Back up your data before you do, so that you can transfer that to the new install.

Once you've reinstalled Mint 18.3, install TimeShift - that program makes system snapshots (not data snapshots, you will have to use another program for that) which will allow you to roll back the system if things go awry.

You're post was 4 days ago, so you may have reinstalled by now. If you have not, just wanted to say that you may need to go into the Bios to change the boot order. If you have a DVD, then probably not, but if you're booting to a USB, most likely. Insert the drive, then go into the Bios, to the boot option and then boot order, move the USB up in the list.

Good Luck.
