Im sitting on a LAN with a Internet connection through a router and using a dhcp server for internal IPs.
I have no domian name.
If i set the hostname (running RH9) on my "server" to something like myserver. Apache will fail to start after a reboot, and saying something like that the server doesnt have that hostname.
Are you running a webserver at all? If not, just disable apache from running at all.. so its not wasting resources, etc.
If you are running apache, have you tried editing httpd.conf to reflect it to have the same host name or domain name?
