help with dpkg-divert --divert

I am using Debian Etch r 3.

I am trying to install firefox beta 3 and I have discovered that I don't have this command:

dpkg-divert

Code:
daniel@debian:/usr/bin$ sudo dpkg-divert --divert /usr/bin/mozilla-firefox --rename /usr/bin/mozilla-firefox
sudo: dpkg-divert: command not found
Assistance appreciated.

Just in case you haven't already figured this out, dpkg-divert is part of dpkg, which should already be installed on your system. It should be at /usr/sbin/dpkg-divert, & if it isn't you should be able find it w/:
Code:
which dpkg-divert
Did you solve this on your own?
If so, what was the problem?

Thank you kind sir, but this problem has already been resolved. I was trying to install firefox 3 beta 5 and was following instructions on a website. Little did I know that doing so is as simple as the following:

download tar
untar
find executable
./executable

Thanks again
