Like yancek said run the installer I think you can mouse click it if not:

sh ./installer.sh
if it's executable (right click for property's...)

In the same folder where the tar command worked:

cd rkhunter-1.4.2.
or cd whatever the name of extracted folder is then ls to see when installer.sh shows then.

Anyone who can read the README can install RKH.
*And if Mint has version 1.4.2 then he could also 'sudo apt-get install rkhunter'...
