HELP! I've deleted the /etc/httpd folder
Now what!!????
Attempting to upgrade to Apache v2.0.45, I figured that since this version was installing into the /usr/local/apache2 folder, I could go ahead and delete the /etc/httpd folder.
I guess not!
Now the httpd service won't start because the stuff that was in there is ......well.....gone.
Any advice for someone learning the hard way?
TIA

remove and reinstall (or just force an install) of apache again, that's where ALL config files are stored so everything has gone, unless you can get it back from your quarter hourly backup.. ;-)

I did that....or at least thought I did.
I went back to the /root/httpd.2.0.45 folder and performed the commands:
./configure
make
make install
the /etc/httpd folder did not get recreated.

well quite often there will be an example config setup, might be /usr/share/doc/httpd/httpd.conf or such like...check what files were actually installed during the "make install"

Well, you might have also just deleted the old stuff. The new httpd.conf file might be on your system. If you are afraid it won't start because you are using your old init.d script, well it is probably looking in the old place. Try a locate:
(as root)
updatedb &&
locate httpd.conf
If something turns up, there it is. Now just edit to your needs, and edit your init.d script to show the new location (or symlink to the old).

Woohoo! Gotta love the feeling of fixing your problem, it's always better than a "oh well, I'll just reinstall"
