Having trouble connecting to shared folders on winNT

Hi folks,

I've just installed Mandrake 9.2 on my laptop and it seems to work fine, with the exception of the e-mail but that is another issue.

The present problem is this.
We used shared folders (WinNT4) at work to house work in progress. These folders are hosted on a central computer which is backed up routinely. Under Win98, I had full access to the shares I needed but I can't connect to them using Linux. Now here comes the fun bit.

I have tried both Linneighbourhood and Komba and get the same result from both. I can see the server computer but cannot open it for browsing through the folders.

I'll just add that the shared folders I *can* see were administered using the same admin login/password but were done directly on that machine (win2k unit) as opposed to changing group connection rules. I have successfully managed to mount a share on the win2k box but not the NT box.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be most appreciated.

using:
Mandrake 9.2, Linneighborhood / Komba2.
Network has been conrrectly configured and verified.

at the console when you type

$smbclient -L \\ipaddress or computer name

and press ENTER.

What do you get?

Thanks for the suggestion. That actually pointed me in the right direction.
With a little modification (username and workgroup) it was able to see all of the shared folders.
I exported the mountscript (from linneigborhood) for the win2k box, tweaked it to have the right settings for the NT box and hey presto the mount came up.

Thanks a lot. The help is much appreciated.
