Having problems with 'Make Usplash 1.04'

Hiya

Am following a really good tutorial on Koha wiki about setting up an internet kiosk.

I've got to this part here:

Quote:
Double click on the USplash 1.04.tar.gz file, and you will see a new file appear on your desktop called Make USplash.tar.gz, that looks like a CDRom. Open it, and then drag the file to the desktop. Download the PNG file you created to the desktop. One way would be to post it to a website, browse to that website, and then save the file from the website to the desktop, or email it to yourself, or ncat(remove after using) or……………. Applications, Accessories, Terminal Type in

/bin/bash “Make Usplash 1.04” /home/administrator/desktop/NAMEOFYOURPNGFILE.png
Seems very straightforward but it's not running for some reason. If I type the exact command I get this message:

/bin/bash: Make Usplash 1.04: No such file or directory

I've attached apic of the desktop for people to see the files do exist - any thoughts? Cheers

Platform: Ubuntu server 9.04 32-bit

try this and see if it helps
Code:
"~/Desktop/Make Usplash 1.04"
If you can post back what you get when you type

Code:
find ~ -name "Make*"

Hey, thanks for the response, I get:

/home/cafesupport/.local/share/Trash/info/Makefile.trashinfo
/home/cafesupport/.local/share/Trash/info/Make Usplash 1.04.trashinfo
/home/cafesupport/.local/share/Trash/files/Makefile
/home/cafesupport/.local/share/Trash/files/Make Usplash 1.04
/home/cafesupport/Desktop/Make Usplash 1.04

Running the suggestion gives me:

bash: ~/Desktop/Make Usplash 1.04: No such file or directory

Thanks again

Make sure you place quotes around it. It may be stumbling on the spaces in the file. You can also try using tab completion to see if it can find the file.

Hi

I just tried:

cafesupport@iKIOSK:-$ "~/Desktop/M

If I hit 'tab' at this point, it just beeps. And if I complete the line manually and close with speech marks, it gives me the same, no such file or directory

So it appears as though tab completion is not working or can't see the file.

Got a little further, I dragged the file to the terminal window and got this:

cafesupport@iKIOSK:-$ '/home/cafesupport/Desktop/Make Usplash 1.04'
bash: /home/cafesupport/Desktop/Make Usplash 1.04: Permission denied
cafesupport@iKIOSK:-$ sudo 'home/cafesupport/Desktop/Make Usplash 1.04'
sudo: /home/cafesupport/Desktop/Make Usplash 1.04: command not found

???

Think I sorted it. I used this syntax in the end:

cafesupport@iKIOSK:-$ /bin/bash './Desktop/Make Usplash 1.04' /home/cafesupport/Desktop/splash.png

and it has created the *.so file.

Thanks for the help anyway
