Hanging Connection.

I'm fairly new with Linux ( using Red Hat 9 ) so I'm quite lost.
When I connect to the net through my modem I'm fine for some time until after little while it just get stuck. The satus bar hangs to: 'waiting for reply' or 'looking up host' but nothing happen until the browser gives up.
Once it's frozen all connections are gone; FTP, ssh, FTTP you name it everything that is distributed is just render obselete.
It does also happen when I load up html document from my HD.
Anyone would know the cause of the problem.

Thanks
Richard

You seem to have a problem either with your modem or your ISP. If your ISP has support for linux (I doubt it), you might try ask them for help.
If not, ask in the networking forum here, providing as much information as you can, epecially exact type of your linux distribution, type of your modem, your ISP and all steps you perform to get connected to the ISP.
