had xubuntu, want to format and start fresh
I've had xubuntu for a week or so, got a samba share setup, and was having an enjoyable time with it. There were a couple minor things that bugged me. Not a big deal, but after trying a lot of stuff and totally messing a lot of stuff up with my install, I decided just to start totally fresh.
I decided to try regular ubuntu. While trying to install there was a partition issue for which I don't have the exact error message.
Anyway, I loaded up Damn Small Linux and deleted the partitions with Fdisk.
I popped the ubuntu disk back in and get a grub loading error 22.
I chose to boot from the cdrom and even ommited the hard drive as an boot option from bios and it says that I need to choose some bootable media. OK then.
Well, the fact that grub even loads must mean that I need to completely format the HD. This is what I've been trying to do as the next step; however, I'm not sure how to do it, or if that's the correct step to take.
