GTK, GTK+ and MPlayer won't install ?

I tried to install MPlayer and after make etc. tried to install -gui, and it said that I don't have GTK installed.
Problem is I use Fedora Core 1 and I have GTK+ installed...
How to avoid this problem ?

And a newbie question : after make install, where is program being installed ? What dir. ?

if you want to compile it, its not enought to just have GTK....
you also need GTK's header files and otehr development tools

install GTK-devel

but to be honest i dont see any point in compiling Mplayer yourself.
why not install from rpm ?
that way do dont need any development packages installed.

The mplayer GUI needs GTK+1. Do you have that too?
