Question GRUB loader


i wanted to change the grub loader image . i replaced the splash.xpm.gz file with a new image .but when i restarted the image is not shown . does it have to do something with the resolution of the image ?

first the image MUST BE 640x480 and in .xpm format
AND have ONLY 14 colors .
ALL of the above conditions must be met for it to work.

yes colors are important but modern distros tend to use a diff stage2 file now a days
