groupadd is giving some errors

I am just following the instructions in a webpage regarding some installation.

There I found

[root@livid /]# groupadd ldap

But when I am running that command, it is giving me the following error:

groupadd: error while loading shared libraries: libldap.so.199: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Why am I getting that error?

Are you using LDAP authentication possibly via PAM? It seems that there's a missing library that an LDAP call needs. Can you also post your distro? It's possible the library is available in a package that you don't have installed which means the fix is just to install the missing package.
