Giving a specific user and group read/write/execute permissions to a folder

I'm not sure how to do this using the command line, but I did it using WinSCP while connected to my linux server. So basically I have a gunicorn service that needs access to the application folder

/var/bin/flaskapi

The service is running under a specific user 'backend' and group 'backend'

In WinSCP I just did this (see image attachment)

Is this right? I wasn't sure what the 'Others' permissions is for, so I didn't change it.

That is fine. The "Others" permissions apply to any user not a member of the "backend" group.
