Exclamation Getting into Linux administration

Hi friends,

I'm not exactly new to linux. I've been using linux for the past two years just for using some applications like Network simulator. I'd like to get myself introduced to core Linux admin concepts. I'm a bit confused where to start with. And what linix flavor to use? Any suggestions?

Regards,
Bharani..

Linux distro is irrelevant. You need a book.

What kind of administration did you have in mind?

Linux: Rute User's Tutorial and Exposition
... this is the default bible, available in hardcover, online and in repos.

rute users covers servers and services from the basics.

The definitive linux server is LAMP.
So, in addition to rute, you should get the documentation for Apache, MySQL and PHP. A Perl cookbook is a good idea also.

Then you want a tutorial. But most of all, you want hands on experience.

Overview type stuff is:

I've just given you enough info for a university paper. Have fun.
