getting a single file out of an rpm

Hi,

Using Kpackage I see that there are README and INSTALL files in an rpm that I'm interested in looking at before I install an rpm.

Is there a way to just get those files out of the package and not install anything else?

Thanks

you can use good old mc to enter rpms as if they were a directory, and then you can nosey around as you want. there are other methods like rpm2cpio, but that's not really what you are after.

Wow, that was cool. It was my first time in MC. After a few minutes I figured out how to do a quick view on the file I was interested in and I was even able to "extract" it by copying it to my Desktop.

Thanks!
