Gentoo boot, autoconfiguring device

I am trying Gentoo for first time. I boot on disc, I see F1 and F2 options or click enter, after I clicked just enter, it read all ok. But it got to point when it reach to run level 3, hardware detection, cpu info, then autoconfiguring devices...if anyone know what I meant where we see slash line spinning forward to right leaving green trail. I wonder how long does autoconfiguring devices will take? It been going on for like 5-10 mins, is it normal? when will it complete autoconfiguring the devices? My harddrive was blank before I boot on gentoo disc.

I am installing Gentoo tonight for the first time. From everything that I read it takes a long time to compile everything. Some say it takes 24 hours.

How long autoconfig takes depends entirely on your hardware. If you're going to install Gentoo you'd best be prepared to be very patient. I used Gentoo for a while but got tired of all the long compile times.
