I have just recently installed Mandrake 7.2
and I'm trying to learn the ropes.

I have telnet and http working...finally.

Next step is FTP. I'm trying to log in to
my linux machine with WS-FTP on my Windows machine.
It appears to connect but I get an invalid login.
Now, I'm NOT trying to login as root, just as
a regular old user I have set up. Why would I
be able to log in to telnet but not FTP? Any
help?

I would greatly appreciate it...

What ftp daemon are you using? Do you you have it authenticating out of /etc/passwd or out of its own database?

I don't know. Where would I check and what would I be looking for?

Well, the solution has been found - I renamed the ftphosts because some rules within it were effecting FTP. Go figure..
