Foreign Bash exec will not run from launcher as exe
Hi,
I statically compiled bash using statifier on a trusted system for use on a system with a rootkit. I called it tbash
I'm trying to run the bash exe on the TRUSTED machine from a launcher. If I can get it to work I'll put it on the broken box to avoid opening an untrusted bash.
Kernels are the same on both boxes.
Invoking the name of the exe in the launcher command box will not start a shell. It's driving me mad. Why? (not the madness, I know that bit).
I've tried;
./tbash
./tbash -i
./tbash -l (getting desperate)
./tbash 2&>1
EDIT: I've now discovered that running the original /bin/bsah executable doesn't work on the trusted machine. This begs the question;
What file is run to get a shell?
EDIT2: Got it: gnome-terminal.
I'll statify that instead.
Using Breezy Badger - Ubuntu 5.xxxxx (yes I know it's old).
