Forced Root Filesystem Check

Hey,

I rebooted my system (by accident ) and when I start it it does the system shut down uncleanly thing. I do the check and it forces a check of the root file system.

It comes up with 7.9 % done and says

****************************************************
Error reading block 264761 (Attempt to read block resulted in short read)
****************************************************

Sorry, but I am the epitomy of a newbie, all I know is my root password. THANKS FOR ANY HELP!

Actually, that messed up my kernel. I did the e2fskd thing and it said that /dev/hda2 was corrupt but didn't do anything. So I reset my journal and now my kernel is messed up.
