Force Quit - Debian Etch

Does Debian Etch have a similar command as Windows' ctrl+alt+del ?

Iceweasel froze while trying to save an image. I couldn't access anything. Ie I couldn't open a terminal. Is there anyway to close Iceweasel without shutting everything down?

Also, is there an online library of commands for Debian (or Linux in general), for the terminal and GUI?

Barnes.

Try with ctrl+alt+backspace --> It will kill X-enviroment

There is a very basic list of commands for your terminal
http://www.ss64.com/bash/index.html

Hope this could help!

ctrl-c can also work wonders, but if everything really is frozen, go with SlacUser's ctrl-alt-backspace suggestion - it's more extreme (kills all of X instead of one program), but it tends to work more when ctrl-c doesn't respond.

Kill just the offending application

CTRL+ALT+F2
Login as root or user and su - to root.
pkill iceweasel
exit
CTRL+ALT+F7
to get back to gui

as far as reference goes.. this quick reference card may come in handy even though it's a bit outdated.. http://people.debian.org/~debacle/refcard/

More docs are here: http://www.debian.org/doc/
