Unhappy Fedora 8-Freezing during Installation.

Hello,

I have got a Intel-Dual Core 2.66GHz,512MB RAM, 200GB HDD. Till about a month ago I used SuSe 10.2..Recently I tried installing Fedora 8(thats after I removed Suse 10.2) I created an Ext 3 partition of 11GB and a Swap of 3GB.
The initial installation went smooth and fine, All the packages got installed, Even got "Successfully Installed" message.

And then later when I booted into Fedora from GRUB. It gives me a setup screen(I mean the Finalizing the Installation procedure), But I am just not able to get past this. The system completely FREEZES, the mouse jams, and nothing works. So, I'm just not able to click the "forward" button to continue with the installation procedures.

Its been quite some time since I've used Fedora (FC-6) was perhaps the last time that I used it (and that Installation was on the same comp too).I'm really excited to get going with F-8.

Any suggestions on how I need to proceed ?

Thank you!

Also you.

I take it you have custom HW constellation?

The finalizing process uses a different kernel than the install process. This is how you can have mouse and kbd for the graphical install and not for finalising.

At first glance - 11gig is a bit small for usual installs of fedora. It will fit though. 3gig is a very large swap partition, even if you want to hibernate. fedora usually expects to have a separate boot partition.

Can you not tab through the buttons?
You could attempt to procede in a text screen? (ctrl+alt+F2)
Add the noapic boot parameter. (e at grub, then e on second line down, enter "noapic")

When you boot - you have the option to view the boot messages. Do so and watch for "fail" messages, particularly involving keyboard and mouse.
