Explain me this Iptable rule


I am very new to ip tables, even man page didnt helped me much.
plz help me

iptables -A INPUT -m recent --name portscan --rcheck --seconds 86400 -j DROP

recent creates a list with the arbitrary name of"portscan". When there are multiple hits from the same source address that IP is blocked for a day.
