Evolution...still a few bugs in the system

First of all, I get mail from certain people I just don't want to hear from. I cannot stop their mail from coming down from the server, as one can in other OSs.
Now almost everything I receive goes to Trash.
so
1. How can I completely block senders I don't want to receive mail from
2. How can I make e-mail come to the inbox instead of trash

I can read the trash, but because nothing is bolded. I have to expunge everything from trash every time..so I can't go back and check something I may have missed, from someone I wanted to hear from..
This is quite inconvenient.

Thanks, Rye
OH YEAH..
I'd love to fill out my profile, but I don't know how

John
I have read the section on filtering. I have filtered them..but their mail still appears in Trash..as does most of my mail. I'd like to arrange for selected senders'mail not even to come down from the server.
