Question Error Start System: Root Device As Read-Write Failed!

First of all good morning everyone!
You know this site a long time, I know that is used as reference in the Linux world!

Some problems, managed to solve here, bad error that is happening, I am unable to solve despite searching a lot. I'm enrolling me at the moment here in the forum to try the final resolution.

let's go then...

Yesterday's nothing Chrome began to problems of access permission, nor root nor with the default user of the system.

To try to resolve the failure, just moving, shuffling me in reading permissions and system writing. Up to an hour that some programs like Vistual Box ñ and opened more.

I rebooted the system when I appears the biggest problem and the cause of my post here!

###############################################################
Attempt to remount root device as read-write failed! This is going to cause serious problems.

If you're using the UMSDOS filesystem, you **MUST** mount the root partition
read-write! You cam make sure the root filesystem is getting mounted
read-write with the 'rw' flag to Loadlin:

Loadlin vmlinuz root=/dev/hda1 rw (replace /dev/hda1 with you root device)
Normal bootdisks can be made to mount a system read-write with the rdev command:

rdev -R /dev/fd0 0

You can also get into your system by using a boot disk with a command like this on the LILO prompt line: (change the root partition name as needed)

LILO: mount root=/dev/hda1 rw

###############################################################

Please ask for help, because I have this system the years ñ and wanted to lose it.
Slackware 14 XFCE and share with Windows 7.

Might be a hardware problem.

If you can get it up (even in read-only mode) should check the logs for I/O errors.

Thanks for answering my post!

I am now in service as soon as possible try to mount the partition again and run fsck to repair the file system.

Bad this system crash, happened after I "tinker" with chroot and the read and write permissions.

Hello everyone,
I managed to mount the partition with the command "history". I think I got the latest data commands before the system crash.

If this reason, have the possibility of reversion to normalcy?

Well, changing all files in /opt/google/chrome to setuid is NOT a good idea. I believe that is where chrome exists, so you are giving set UID to the browser, which will allow anything to happen.

Also marking the things world writable allows anyone else to do things to the sandbox as well.

No security remains.

I would suggest a reinstall.

jpollard, thanks for the support!

I think it's far beyond what I can solve, since I started backing up my files to another partition and already thinking about format.

Will the new version of Slackware 14.2 and will take out?

Expensive,

Good afternoon everyone!

I solved the problem, as follows:

I downloaded the iso Slackware Current, booting and writing about lilo machine.

Given boot the machine, I managed to get to the login screen, but when you try to login with the standard user and got the following errors:

"ServerAuth does not exist" and also demanded to set permission 4755 in Xorg file.

then I configured permission in chmod 4755 / usr / bin / Xorg.

Made these changes, be able to log into the graphical environment and through the "startx".

I'm out of time for testing, bad noticed that giving some caught in the system, so bad you have time and will check better.

I am considering how resolved, because I could log in to the graphical environment.

Thanks to all !!!
