driver install help please


im trying to install ati drivers on linux redhat 7.2 with cli beacause startx wont start does anyone know how to do this the driver file is on cd

If you have an rpm based distro, you should jus be able to run the rpm, but make sure you have your kernel source installed. If you can't install from rpms, you're going to have to convert it to a tgz first, and then run. If you have your kernel source installed, you shouldn't run into any problems. After it's done, just run fglrxconfig and that should be it.

ok how do i get it to install from cd using the cli what do i type and do you know what version of xfree86 installes with linux redhat 7.2

ATI gives you the opp to download a script which will tell you which version your running on the second link.

its hard

to hard to learn that from the cli im a newbie all i wanted to know was what version comes with linux 7.2
