Do you need to install mail server to send mail from the command line?


ok i want to send e-mail from script when build is done.

followed this link,
http://askubuntu.com/questions/12917...e-command-line
installed 1 by 1, run the command, none worked.

so do i need mail server as well ? this is ubuntu 12.04

You need to know where there is an email server. You don't need one merely to send.

It depends on what you are trying to do.

If you have an ISP supplied mail, you should be able to send to it... provided the script has authorization to connect...

If you are trying to send it locally then, yes, you need a local mail server...
