diificulty in package installation


i have to install sum packages using yum
steps i followed to configure yum
mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/
cp -rf /mnt/Server/* /var/ftp/pub/Server
(my all softwares are in server folder)
cd /var/ftp/pub/Server
rpm -ivh vsftpd..........
rpm -ivh createrepo........
i installed these 2 packages bt ven i use
rpm -qi vsftpd/createrepo it shows package nt installed and i even tried to install it forcefully bt dere is no effect
ven i try to install it shows already installed
and ven i try to delete it shows not installed
i am unable to install packages like dhcp....an d unable to configure yum
