Copying files as SU using GUI?

Well, I've finally got StepMania installed and everything.

Can I get my songs copied from my desktop to usr/share/games/stepmania as superuser via GUI and not command-line? Using Ubuntu 7.1 with GNOME.

Hi,

I use Kubuntu (KDE), and the way to copy files into a directory that requires superuser or root access is this:

--Open a file browser, Dolphin in my case, and migrate to the folder
--On the right hand side, I have the option to open a folder as root, so I select that
--Drag and drop the file

So for gnome, if your file manager allows for accessing a folder as root within the manager, that would be one way to do it. I have not used gnome, so I am not sure if this is an option.

Hope that helps some.

T.

The file manager in gnome is nautilus, so you can launch it as root with sudo nautilus.

Assuming you can use su (or su -). You could also:

su -
(give password)
then (as root)
nautilus

This will fire up nautilus (gnomes gui file handler) just as if you had logged in as root.

Install nautilus-gksu, right-click on folder, select "Open as administrator" and you can copy & paste anything you want. It also comes in handy when you need to edit system files.

Thanks.

Besides, I just had to download Dolphin. I remembered that any distro with KDE, by using Dolphin, had a "run as root" command on the side.

And guess what? StepMania works great!

Now my problem is the sound buffer, I'm guessing; "Choppy" sound.
Sadly, it's only coming from music/sounds from StepMania.
