Not sure how much success you'll have on conversion, but I believe some work has been done on being able to 'play' these files under linux.

Good Luck!

Cool

Really? Wouldn't that kind of solve the whole issue with not being able to download for-a-fee music on Linux since DRM makes it impossible to play anything?

I certainly hope so. Mmm.... being able to play them would be splendid.

I got XMMS running MPEG-4 Audio files the plugin on the site was pretty ugly and I couldn't make heads or tails of it. but there was an rpm that seemed to work here:

http://www.qwirx.com/xmms-plugin-mp4...0.4-1.i386.rpm

that got my files running. though there was some problem with XMMS freezing up on some very large files (20+ megabytes) I think it had something to do with the compression, as they were very large in filesize for the leingth of the song.

well good luck.
