converting m4u to mp3?


Is it possible to convert an m4u music file to an mp3 music file?

and can someone give me some information on the difference between the two, which has better quality etc.

you mean m4p? Its ipod sound format.. not very much better thn mp3 at this point.

Not sure how much success you'll have on conversion, but I believe some work has been done on being able to 'play' these files under linux.

Really? Wouldn't that kind of solve the whole issue with not being able to download for-a-fee music on Linux since DRM makes it impossible to play anything?

I got XMMS running MPEG-4 Audio files the plugin on the site was pretty ugly and I couldn't make heads or tails of it. but there was an rpm that seemed to work here:

that got my files running. though there was some problem with XMMS freezing up on some very large files (20+ megabytes) I think it had something to do with the compression, as they were very large in filesize for the leingth of the song.
