connecting to wireless

I installed network manager and connecting to wired network is fine .
But cannot connect to wireless.The network manager does not show any available networks.
The ifconfig does not have a wlan entry.but nm-tool have one..?
Any help in connecting to the network???

Which OS?
which version?
Which computer?
Which wireless card?

Also, run the command lspci in a terminal. It should report what type of wireless chipset you have.

Post the output here. Be sure to surround it in "code" tags, which become available when you click the "Go Advanced" button below.
