Configuring proxy in Kubuntu 8.10


Hii all .. I recently installed Kubuntu 8.10 .. I am trying go get new software through adept but it fails of getting updates because I am behind a proxy .. I entered the proxy in system settings but I see Adept doesn't see its configured .. only konqueror that can go through the proxy so any1 have any ideas about how to setup the proxy .. also I want to use the Ubuntu download manager not the Adept after setting up the proxy how can I use the Ubuntu package manager ?? Thanks.

You can export http_proxy variable from the terminal and then use the package manager. Else you can use synaptic to configure it. It will configure your apt manager with the proxy settings.
