Hi takeoboy, Welcome to LQ. Are you trying to setup a domain or just standard workgroup style shares?
If it's just going to be a file server with workgroup style shares a standard samba setup and configuration should work fine. Suse 12.2 comes with Samba 3.6.7 which is a new enough version that the clients should be able to "just connect" providing you have the proper credentials, users, etc.
If it's going to be a domain setup you'll need to do some work on the clients.
