I'm running Ubuntu 5.10, and trying to get my modem to work as it does not seem to be supported. I mangaged to find the drivers here http://sourceforge.net/projects/accessrunner., but they seem to be just the source code and I have no idea what to do with it. There is some more info on the driver here http://accessrunner.sourceforge.net. Is anybody able to help me? I would try and compile it myself (it would be the first time I have done such a thing) but somebody ont he Ubuntu forum told me he had never seen anything like it before so I thought I would take it to the proffesionals.

Have searched on many forums for an answer, found a few people with the same modem with questions, just no answers.

I downloaded both available files from sourceforge. The first one, usbatm-20050216.tar.bz2, didnot make sense to me. It has only source and headers. If you know anythig about compiling, you may have luck instaling this. but you going to have to manually configure/make/install it. The second file, cxacru_bundle-2004-05-11.tar.bz2, contains a Makefile. I would assume that this could be installed in the usual manner. make sure you have the Kernel Source installed (just in case).

If your not familliar with command line installation:

cd (to directory with makefile)

$ make (and any options you may want)
or vi Makefile and search the file for allowed options if unsure an the $make
su <pwd for root>
# make install

Someone else may know how to compile thge source in the 1st file without a Makefile. Unfortunately, I don't I'd love to know how though. Hope this helps

Well ... it goes into kernel source tree. After it is copied into proper place it should appear as a new item(s) in menuconfig.

Update. Just had a look at my kernel sources and it's already there. Matt, all you need to do is to obtain a recent kernel and build, install a custom kernel.
