Angry Command Line

Hey everyone.I just installed Kali Linux 2020.4 on VMware workstation player 16 last night and am trying to make use of the command line through the Terminal, but all i am getting when i type in the command is either "Command not found",no such file or directory" and the caution "We trust you have received the usual lecture from the local System
Administrator. It usually boils down to these three things:

#1) Respect the privacy of others.
#2) Think before you type.
#3) With great power comes great responsibility."
am using kali linux 2020.4 with the key kali@kali..please help me configure the system. Thanks in advance

Maybe you should read the documentation - start here. Especially this bit "All that said, we are still not encouraging people to use Kali as their day to day operating system."

If you have to ask this sort of question, you should heed the advice.

I second syg00's comment there. Then after you have read the link shown above, carefully go through this one too:

Using Kali Linux?

I would add that the tools available in Kali are available in Ubuntu (or Linux Mint) and that has a general purpose desktop version suitable as a daily driver. You can use that and it will mostly stay out of your way as you add and learn the various tools also found in Kali. Then once you have mastered the tools using Ubuntu (or Linux Mint), and become familiar with the system itself, then you can download Kali and burn it to a USB stick and carry it for good luck or whatever non-technical reason.

Command not found is often the result of running a command as a normal user which should be run as root.
No such file or directory can be because you are not running it from the proper location or have not entered the full path.

If you are serious about learning computer forensics using Kali, use their web site which contains the best documentation available for Kali. The caution you mention is often shown when usign root privileges. Those are pretty basic things you need to know while using any Linux much less Kali so do some reading at the Kali site to start.
