Thumbs up College Linux FileShare Samba Network?


Hi after a while of suffering getting Linux I finally made throu College Linux!!and i LOVE IT!!!!!!!! now i want to copy a little stuff from my other computer who has internet and WinXP

My Laptop has College Linux, and i do have Samba but when i log in as root and type /etc/samba/smb.conf then its permission denied...im not really sure if im even supposed to do that neither am i sure what im about to accomplish...all i want is to move files From WinXP to CL, also the internet on CL works!

sounds like you need to configure samba first. have a look here.

www.webmin.com helps out a lot with samba setup... make sure to create a samba user too... lots of people forget that step...

aright i still dont get it...i have downloaded samba-3.0.4.tar.gz and its on /home directory and im back where i asked.../etc/smb.conf ...im asking the same thing now does anybody know what to DO?? :\

so far ive made 1 command work...smbd -V and thats all ive got to say...
